London Coalition Against Poverty was formed in Autumn 2007 as a class struggle organisation that believed ordinary people had the power to change their lives themselves, and that those in poverty could fight and win through solidarity and direct action. LCAP has had a string of individual and collective successes, from stopping families being evicted to improving conditions for entire housing blocks. LCAP has no paid staff but maintains an office 5 days a week (often more); we need money for printing our fliers and campaign material, travel expenses and office rent. Just Defy! is an occasional benefit event from L&S types that has been a clubnight 3 times and a barbecue twice, and is very excited to this week be a good old fashioned rave. We don't have a website.
